Overview

Ziply is an on-demand courier service based in Los Angeles that needed a scalable platform to improve logistics operations. CodeBricks delivered a solution with three user-specific portals for customers, drivers, and administrators. The platform streamlined package deliveries, optimized costs, and improved service efficiency with integrations for Google Maps, PayPal, and major courier APIs.

01

The Challenge

Ziply struggled to handle high delivery volumes while maintaining speed and cost-effectiveness in a fast-paced urban environment. The team had a clear product vision but needed technical expertise to build a scalable logistics platform. Operations were fragmented across roles: customers, drivers, and administrators each needed dedicated tools, but a single generic app could not support scheduling, routing, payments, and real-time oversight in one coherent system.

02

Research & Strategy

We scoped a multi-portal architecture with a shared backend on Ruby on Rails and AWS, a React.js customer web portal, native iOS apps for drivers, and an admin dashboard for operations. Discovery focused on delivery workflows in Los Angeles, then we shipped each portal with role-specific UX. Google Maps powered routing and tracking, PayPal handled payments, and courier APIs (DHL, FedEx) extended fulfillment options. QA automation covered critical order and payment paths before launch.

03

The Solution

Customer portal for scheduling shipments with a clear, low-friction booking flow
Driver iOS app to accept nearby requests, optimize routes, and complete deliveries on time
Proof of delivery and live tracking features for customers and operations teams
Admin portal with real-time tracking, order management, and performance reporting
Google Maps integration for accurate routing, ETAs, and location visibility
PayPal integration for reliable customer payments
Courier API integrations (DHL, FedEx) for external partner collaboration
Scalable AWS infrastructure to support growing delivery volume in Los Angeles
Automated QA coverage for core logistics and payment workflows
Unified platform that reduced delays, miscommunication, and manual coordination
